Joe Scarlett spent nearly thirty years in leadership roles with Tractor Supply Company, most of them as President and Chairman.
He is probably best known for developing an employee-focused company culture that has been subsequently replicated far and wide.
Forbes Magazine recognized Tractor Supply as the “Best Managed Companies in America” under his leadership, and Scarlett was recognized as Ernst & Young’s Southeast Entrepreneur of the Year.
During his tenure, the Tractor Supply Corporation grew from a $3.8M company in 1983 to over $2.7B in 2007. His book, The Culture Warrior: Leadership Lessons from Joe Scarlett, sold over 80K copies the first month it was available.
He serves at the Chairman of the Scarlett Hotel Group, and his family foundation provides scholarships and education support to students throughout Middle TN.
Today, Joe is engaged in supporting the development of other community leaders, advancing his family foundation’s mission to improve educational outcomes across Middle Tennessee, and serving in leadership for the bipartisan Beacon Center.
Joe and his wife, Dorothy, are inseparable after 50-plus wonderful years.
