I purchased LeafFilter gutter guards in 2023. During the sales visit, I was told multiple times I’d “never have to get on a ladder again,” and that debris would wash off the system naturally. Less than a year later, water was overflowing and not entering my gutters properly. I called service, and the technician blamed splash guards and said I needed to clean the system myself, contradicting the sales promise. He cleaned them once for free but said future visits would cost $95. The issue returned after the next rainfall. I tried cleaning it myself, then called again. A second tech cleaned them and removed splash guards. Due to a dry summer, the system seemed fine, but the one-year workmanship warranty expired. In May 2025, the problem returned. A third technician came out and found that both the front and back of the system were improperly installed from the start. He had to remove and reinstall the entire front section and adjust the back gutters. Despite this being a correction of poor original installation — something I had reported twice within the warranty period — I was charged a $95 service fee. I contacted corporate, and they said I should’ve called before the warranty expired. I explained that I had — twice. The techs just didn’t diagnose the real issue. Their own technician confirmed the system was installed incorrectly. I couldn’t have known that myself. I believe LeafFilter uses misleading sales tactics and fails to honor their warranty when issues arise. I am simply requesting a refund of the $95 service charge for work that should’ve been done under warranty.Business Response

Customer's splash guards were due to how their roofing system creates valleys and not part of the guttering system, therefore the debris from the roof collects behind them, which is customer maintenance. Service fees are applicable after the 1st year per contract. Customer's request for refund is unwarrantedInitial Complaint

Service from LeafFilter was fine. Product works I guess how it should? We assumed from what the sales person said, we would never have to pay for gutter cleaning again. If the gutter clogs, then leaf filter will clean the gutters for free. We were told leaves and debris would slide off the filters, well that is not true, the debris just sit on top of the filter and keep water from getting into the gutter. Not real pleased with the product. We should have read more about the details of what's covered or not. We were under the impression from the sales person that we would never have to clean gutters again. Well I guess that's true, but now we have the leaf filter system thay needs cleaned every year and they charge a minimumof $95 to clean the debris off, sooooo not really sure what we gained other than a waste in money.Business Response

I responded by phone to a "free estimates" solicitation online, which is accompanied by other deeply discounted gutter replacement solicitations on May 8, 2025. Upon my connecting with an operator, I was immediately transferred to the service department, as I was identified in the business system by a previous job number ******** (April 2018) - they also verified who I was by checking other contact items, among which was a current email address. I was able to secure an appointment the following day, but I was charged a $95. trip charge which was supposed to be credited to the final bill upon work completion. I gave the credit card info over the phone. A tech was schedule for 8am - 12pm on May 9, 2025. At 12:30pm that following day, no one appeared, so I called the customer support line to inquire about the tech. They said they would have him get in touch with me. I received a call at 12:40pm from the tech and he indicated that he was well over an hour south of my location. At about 2:00pm the tech did some measuring and sent the info to his employer on his cell phone. He said that I would receive something more formal by the following Monday. He confirmed that I paid his trip charge for the day. I received an sms text message with a total price for work, but no company letterhead, breakdown of costs, no mention of a free estimate or discounts. I did not trust it I've made 3 attempts (one by phone, two by online contact email on company website) in the last 10 days to secure a written estimate. The phone bank operator (*******) on May 13, 2025 said she would forward my request to the company. Their online email contact system acknowledged the send of my message. I have no response from the company yet and believe I am a victim of a scam. I wish to get my money back and contract with a reliable local provider. I would also like to pass this information on to the Wisconsin BBB affiliate as this is where they may be perpetrating additional fraud. Thank you.Business Response

Customer called for new estimates for old gutters on the back of the house on 5/8/25. She was quoted a service fee of $95. Customer agreed to the service fee and the quote was sent on 5/10/25. This dispute is unwarrantedCustomer Answer
Date: 05/21/2025
I am rejecting this response because: I called to get an estimate based on the information I attached above. I was transferred immediately to customer service because I had some work done by the company previously and was able to schedule for an estimate, and the agent told me that I would pay a "trip Charge" which would be credited towards my final bill.
This was not a service fee - what service did I receive. I was paying for the tech to drive to my house.
No one addressed the free estimate or current discount offerings (as promoted on the company's website and Facebook pages). I received a total cost via SMS text message, and have heard nothing from the company since, again after 3 separate attempts to get a full official estimate.Of course I gave my credit card information over the phone; we were returning "satisfied" customers, I had no reason to mistrust this company and every intention of taking advantage of their current offerings, (free estimate and discounted service work, as advertised attached).
Again, I have no written information from the company that addresses any free estimates or discounted service work. Only a highly questionable SMS text message that I can't be sure even came from this company.
I will be forwarding a complaint to the Wisconsin DATCP.I would like you to copy your Wisconsin BBB affiliate on this case.
I still want a refund
I still want the company to cease its false advertisements.
After that I will be glad to sever any connections to this company.I cannot load the screen shots so I am providing the url of each of their advertisements

I am rejecting this response because:
I receive uncounted phone calls and texts from unidentified senders that I do not answer. It is just not a wise practice anymore to open your doors to a stranger. Especially if they arrive unrequested and unannounced.
This complaint was started specifically to gain real and trusted communication with the "company". I have repeatedly stated my initial requirement for a written estimate, in verification for services from a legal, reputable and reliable company, showing cost breakdowns; free estimates and discounts included, so we could make our buying decisions properly.
At no time, have I been afforded that simple courtesy (a common business practice), and I have specifically requested to the "company" 3 times using their communication access tools. Why do I continue to have unidentified numbers and messaging pop up on my phone screens.
If the "company" ever bothered to check my communications they claim to record and file, they would find that it is the husband they've been toying with. All of their responses to the BBB addresses the wife.
This complaint would not be at the BBB, had the company responded appropriately in the first place (with a simple written estimate). We have no intention of settling this issue over the phone. We have no intention of having the "company" provide any work for us. A written estimate at this juncture is pointless. I don't trade without knowing what I'm trading for; the "company" should learn this. If the "company" can find legitimacy, I'll take my money back.
We have been scammed out of $95.00 and the proof provided above comes from a real family, in a real home, with a real address. And a real complaint has been filed with the Wisconsin Bureau of Consumer Protection (at DATCP).
Please let us know If we can provide a real copy. Thank you.

The sales rep (******** *******) came to our home and showed us a sample of the leaf filter product. The product represented a flat piece that was fitted into the gutter of a home. The advertising that we attached shows the product fitted level into the gutter. Our product was installed at such an angle that when there's a heavy rain the water runs over the product and leaves a long ditch in front of our whole side of the garage. The rep came to the house and said that's how they install it. That is NOT what the advertising shows OR what the sample piece showed. We didn't pay $6479 for a product that we're unhappy with.Business Response

Contract was installed per manufacturer's specifications however we are willing and able to lay them flat but this would cause debris to gather on the top of the filters. The pitch allows the water to enter the guttering system and the debris to shed.Initial Complaint

This company installed gutters that allegedly kept debris from clogging our home gutters with LIFETIME GUARANTEE. Soon after installation, we required technician to clear gutter that the installed guard was supposed to accomplish. This problem continues and recently we called company to ask for a technician again because our gutters were once again clogged. Now we're told it would cost $95 for technical to service. THIS IS NOT A LIFETIME GUARANTEE and this product is not as advertised and what we understood as keeping debris out of gutters.Business Response

I had gutter guards installed in April of 2024. The whole reason I went with this company was because the tv advertising said you never have to get on a ladder again! Also, when the salesman came to my house I told him this and he said the same thing! I’m a 71 year old lady and have been on a ladder numerous times since these were installed because leaves, etc were just sitting on these guards and causing water to flood over them. Especially at the valleys. Also, leaves, etc get stuck under where the shingles come over the guards. I’ve called customer services many times and finally in December of 2024 a manager sent someone out to rectify the situation but it didn’t help or solve the problem. Just recently I’ve tried contacting that same Manager and I get no response. I signed up for a payment plan initially through Green Sky which will be due in October, 2025. If these are not going to work correctly as advertised I don’t feel responsible for total payment. The advertising was a lie!Business Response

Date: 05/15/2025
I am rejecting this response because:
After the service visit on 5.14.25 it was clear that the filter units placed over the gutters were clogged up in multiple areas. I viewed the photos of the service person. The clogged up "leaf filter" meshing was the reason for the overflow of water. The purpose of the doing the project is to prevent water overflow from causing damage to the home: foundation, mold in attic, rotting of wood around gutters and soffits as advertised on TV and as explained by sales. Now, instead of overflow of water from debris within the gutter unit, I have overflow from the clogged-up hardware installed on the gutters. I had previous gutter guards removed because they did not work and addressed this with the sales person who said "I understand your skepticism", but leaf filter is different, demonstrating the high-water flow rate through a filter unit at my kitchen sink. The salesperson was ******* *** ****** (************) has never returned my calls. It appears that the leaf filter units clog up, cause water overflow, and do not solve the problem of clogged gutters by causing clogging of the hardware placed on the gutters. The damage produced from water overflow is the same. Consequently, they are useless in solving any problem, and I request a refund. The sales contract Money back no clog guarantee. (see submitted contract).Customer Answer

The system does not clog up. Debris will shed via natural elements of rain, wind, etc.Customer Answer
Date: 05/19/2025
I am rejecting this response because:
The Company response is "The systems do not clog up". The statement is a generality, like a definition, and is like saying our system do not clog up, they never clog up, they work for every home environment. There is a problem, however. The system installed at my home at *** ******** did clog up, with "natural debris". So the statement applied to my situation is false. I viewed the photos from the serviceman's iPhone showing natural debris overlaying the filters where water spilled out. The service provided was unclogging the filters. In the first instance of rain, the clog resulted in overflow of water, which has the effect of damaging the home over time. Obviously, LeafFilter will not come out after every rain and overflow to blow the debris off the clogged filters. I am told there is a $95 service fee for this after the first year every time they provide service of unclogging. The product is stated to have a money back no clog guarantee in my contract. The product failed on the first rainfall, and the guaranteed statement is clear in its meaning.Initial Complaint

On Feb 20 2025 Leaf Filter installed 6" gutter complete with Versa G gutter filter on my house. When installing the gutter over my front porch, I nocticed that the gutter was very low, "app 3 to 4 inches below my existing metal roof." I approached the lead installer and asked him why it is being installed so low. His response was, " I don't really have a good answer for you?" I called Leaf Filter and asked for a service technician to come out and look at it to see if it could be reised up closer to the metal roof. During heavy rain, the water runs off my roof and overshoots the gutter. This water eventually finds it's way to my basement. It seeps through the block foundation, and into my coal bin making my coal wet. I specifically had the 6" gutter installed to stop this problem. I suggested an idea to the service tech that involved cutting aluminum facia, to help slip the gutter up closer to the roof line. He said they were not allowed to touch any work that involved roofing. He took several pictures, and said he would show them to his boss and get back to me. He left me with a strong feeling that they were not going to do anything about the problem. His visit was on 9 May 2025, "I think." As of today, 13 May, I have not heard anything from them.Business Response

Service/inspection completed on 5/8/25. Customer's issues are roof drip edge overhanging. This is a roofing issue, and we suggest customer have a roofer correct the non-guttering issue.Customer Answer
Date: 05/14/2025
I am rejecting this response because:
The gutter was installed to low and allows hard rain to overshoot and spill into the ground. I told the installers it was to low when they installed it. They didn't want to take the time to address the drip edge/facia issue, so they took the cheap easy way out. They did substandard work inorder to just slam the gutter in place and finish the job. I am amazed that they would think a botched job like this would be acceptable by any homeowner.

How does an existing drip edge/facia give your outfit a license to do sloppy work that does not work? How does that poor excuse make if acceptable for your service tech/supervisor to not even call me back, and explain to me why they will not address the issue that THEY caused, by their sloppy sub-standard work.

On 8/21/24 I had Leaf Filter come to my house for a consultation. My gutters were leaking where the screws were in place to hold them together. I was told that new gutters and guards would be over $6,000 and I only had $3,000 to spend. I could either get new gutters or guards and have current gutters fixed. With the consultations advice I decided to let them repair the old gutters and get guards(since he said there was a lot of debris up there). Not even a year later they are leaking from the same places as well as rain dripping in between the gutters and the roof, causing damage to not only the roof but the wood under the gutters as well. I would say it’s twice as bad as it was before the worker and his underage son came to work on the house. Another worker came this past Wednesday(****) and said that he would put it in a ticket to have me scheduled to come back and move the placement of the gutters because they were installed wrong. I still have yet to hear from them and now the issue is causing damage to my roof and walls.Customer Answer
