I selected CIgna dental as my dental insurance plan this year. But I noticed that this is my most regretful choice. Terrible insurance company.Cignas dental coverage is deeply misleading and lacks transparency. I selected their highest-tier dental plan through my employer, which promised 100% coverage for preventive care. Based on this, I scheduled cleanings for myself and my son on March 25, 2025, with a provider who assured me they were in-networksomething they had confirmed based on their experience with other Cigna patients. Then came the surprise bills.Turns out, my provider was in-network for most Cigna plansbut not for mine. I was enrolled in an Advantage plan that uses a narrow sub-network within the larger Cigna network. This distinction was never made clear in any plan materials. Worse, Cignas 100% coverage doesnt mean full paymentit means 100% of a low, fixed reimbursement amount, leaving me with a significant out-of-pocket bill. Both my provider and I were shocked. We were misled by Cignas own representatives. Neither of us was told that in-network didnt really mean in-networkor that full coverage didnt actually mean full coverage. This kind of fine print trickery is deceptive and unfair. I chose the top plan in good faith. I did my due diligence. And yet I was penalized by vague, intentionally confusing language and hidden limitations.Ive requested a full reevaluation of my claims, a refund of the balance billed, and a written explanation. If this isnt resolved, I will escalate to HR and state regulators. Consumers deserve better. Avoid Cigna if you value clarity, honesty, and true coverage.

Many transfers when I call. And then transferred back to same departments I've already talked with. Seems like representatives don't know what other departments do. Maybe they don't and just take guesses. The hesitation I hear in many of the employees words and voice tells me that they are not confident in what they are saying. Much time is spent on the phone with representatives trying to get answers to questions. I feel that many employees are inadequate in their job I think they are unable to reasonably help members and I feel they show a lack of investment in learning the things they should know to help the policyholder. Im basing my comments on approximately 4 of the approximately 6 times I have contacted them from January through May this year (2025).

If I could give negative stars, I absolutely ******** beyond frustrated and disappointed with Cignas dental coverage. I chose their highest-tier plan because I wanted reliable, comprehensive coverage for my family. We were led to believe this plan would fully cover preventive care like annual cleaningssomething clearly stated in the documentation. But what we experienced was a complete ******** March 2025, I went in for my routine annual dental cleaning, just like I do every year. I used the same provider I saw last year, received the exact same care, and expected the same outcome: full coverage with $0 out-of-pocket costs. Thats what happened in the past with our previous insurance provider. But this year, after switching to Cignas so-called top-tier plan, I received a bill with no real coverage applied at all.Previous years: same provider, same cleaning, no bill. This year with Cigna: same cleaning, surprise bill $300 and no clear ************** turns out Cigna uses confusing language and hidden sub-networks. Whats labeled as in-network isnt truly in-network, and 100% coverage only applies to a small, fixed reimbursement amountnot to the actual cost of care. That distinction was never made clear to us when we chose the plan. In fact, everything about this experience has felt misleading and deceptive. Im sharing my case to reinforce how upsetting this has been. We picked this plan in good faith and took Cigna at their word. Now were left feeling blindsided and misled. This isnt just about moneyits about trust. And Cigna has broken that.I strongly advise others to look elsewhere if you value clarity, transparency, and honest coverage.

I was terminated while on my approved short-term disability leave. I was voilated as a staff member when they sent my medical records to an independent contractor doctor which is a hippa violation.Only for them to deny my claims which was already approved by them. Two staff members almost died on the floor (warehouse) two different occasions. The work condition are harsh. The work environment is hostile. They financial abuse there staff members when you have questions about your pay. They need a federal investigation on *****, work condition and discrimination to the worker who have disabilities. **** needs to be involved ****.

I had Cigna dental for a few years and the plan was ok. I got new insurance in May 2025 and called Cigna on 5/2/25 to cancel my policy and auto-pay. The representative asked me if i wanted to cancel the May payment. I said yes, since I was cancelling the policy, I wouldn't need a payment for May. The representative told me that it would take 3 business days to cancel the policy and 7 days for a written confirmation. On 5/21/25 I received an email indicating my account was past due. I called customer service immediately and was told that the policy was scheduled to be cancelled 5/31/35, the May payment was due, and an auto-payment was scheduled for 6/5/25.On 5/2, the rep ****** did not tell me the cancellation would occur 5/31 and that the May payment was required to be paid. Why would he ask if I wanted to cancel the May payment if he knew the policy had to remain in effect until 5/31 and a payment would be required? Incompetence or lack of training from Cigna. On 5/21, after 40 minutes on the phone with the billing department, they said if I didn't pay the May payment, they would send it to collections. I shouldn't be penalized for Cigna's incompetence. The billing supervisor stuck to the script and didn't attempt to resolve the issue that was caused by their employee's error. The only recourse I have is to make the payment to avoid being sent to collections and write this review. Is it too much to ask that companies actually care about their customers and provide good customer service? **************** doesn't.

Terrible insurance company, they're always 6 months + behind on paying bills and I keep almost having my credit effected by them. I'm part of a union that uses them or else I would go with any other insurance company. It's always a battle with them paying for anything your covered.

Cigna USED to be a premiere health insurance carrier. Not sure what changed, but about 3 years ago, everything fell apart. Customer sercive is non existant, coverage continues to dwindle and no one seems to like their job, no one seems to really want to help you. I came from the corporate world and even assisted in placing coverage at our company, so I feel I have a pretty good handle on employee health insurance. Cigna used to be in the top 3. In my opinion, not anymore. Really went down hill for some reason.
